Shakespeare in American Classrooms
SCLA’s Shakespeare in American Classrooms initiative is a national program for educators supported by the U.S. Department of Education's Assistance to Arts Education program.
It offers urgent and innovative curriculum that illuminates Shakespeare’s perspective and some of the core Renaissance Humanist principals contained in his plays, such as:
Mercy Seasons Justice - The Merchant of Venice
Time travels in divers paces with divers people - As You Like It
Suit the action to the word and the word to the action - Hamlet
Equality by our best eyes cannot be censured - King John
Aligned with English Language Arts standards, this groundbreaking curriculum draws upon three decades of SCLA’s best practices, award-winning arts-based youth development and youth employment programming.
